Become Pain-Free Without Medications or Surgery
Our philosophy is to diagnose orthopedic injuries by completing a full biomechanical assessment and fixing the root cause.
Our philosophy is to diagnose orthopedic injuries by completing a full biomechanical assessment and fixing the root cause.
Whether you have a recent injury, or you’ve been experiencing pain for years, APEX Physical Therapy can help (even if you’ve attempted other forms of treatment in the past.) There are many ways we set ourselves apart from most physical therapy clinics and treatment approaches.
Manual therapy is the foundation of our hands-on approach to healing at APEX. Skilled manual therapy techniques allow patients to achieve immediate improvements in range of motion, soft tissue mobility, and pain reduction. With these improvements, one can expect to notice accelerated strength increases, muscle recovery, and overall feelings of relief. Our staff has extensive training in a variety of manual therapy techniques and is confident in the results they can provide!
Dry needling is a form of manual therapy designed to treat musculoskeletal and/or myofascial pain by inserting a small needle into tender, irritable spots found in fascia and muscle called “trigger points.” These palpable nodules that lie in soft tissue often have predictable patterns of radicular pain dependent upon the muscle that the trigger point is present within. By skillfully inserting a small needle into the nodule of bound-up muscle fibers, we can effectively cause a relaxation of the irritated tissue and drastically decrease pain and improve function, often times immediately.
Therapeutic exercise is often times the cornerstone medication for healing most musculoskeletal injuries. While we place significant emphasis on manual therapy techniques to provide us the window of opportunity for improved mobility and decreased pain, it is therapeutic exercise that allows us the opportunity to improve strength, tissue healing, and resolve defective movement patterns that have been acquired. With that being said, most therapeutic exercise plans can be done at home or in a gym after proper guidance and education. When our patients walk through the door, they are not going to be doing exercises they could easily perform on their own time at their convenience. We will not waste your time by having you complete the exercises you are already doing on your own, rather offer you specialized treatments to further improve your ability to complete your therapeutic exercises with optimized mobility and muscle activation. Our “home exercise programs” not only involve exercises but often times incorporate stretching, self myofascial release techniques, and components from whatever activity or sport that has been limited by your injury.
Ever have nagging injuries that return time and time again just as soon as you think you are in the clear? Have you stopped doing activities that you enjoy because your physician has told you they are the cause of your discomfort? At APEX Physical Therapy, we will conduct a head-to-toe movement screen to identify weaknesses, muscular imbalances, joint disorders, and soft tissue ailments. From there, we will create a customized mobility and exercise program to get you back to the activities you love without fear, pain, or dysfunction. With the combination of hour-long, one-on-one manual therapy and a customized mobility and exercise regimen, you will be back to living your best life in no time!
Whether you are a weekend warrior or 4-sport athlete, proper recovery is fundamental to your health and wellbeing. Hey there! My name is Dr. Nathan Teter, the practicing Physical Therapist and owner of Apex Physical Therapy. I received my bachelor's degree from the University of West Georgia where I spent four years playing college football for the Wolves. It was during this time that I found my passion for physical therapy after suffering a traumatic knee injury during my senior season. I was fortunate enough to work with skilled Manual Therapists over the course of my rehabilitation which further ignited my passion for PT. I went on to graduate from the University of St. Augustine with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree and returned to my home town of Cumming, GA to begin practicing. I specialize in Manual Therapy, Sports Medicine, Dry Needling, and Injury Prevention. I have worked in a number of different physical therapy settings and have gained an array of knowledge and experience. My belief is that in order for individuals to return to their optimal level of performance, they require personalized, one-on-one care.
